Thursday Night Pick: Bengals at Dolphins

Thursday Night Pick: Bengals at Dolphins

Trick or Treat Everybody! My costume today is to disguise myself who makes the right picks for Thursday nights. I bet on the worst team in the league last week, bet against the best team two weeks ago, and have just been cold recently. But do we give up? DID THE US GIVE UP WHEN THE GERMANS BOMBED PEARL HARBOR?! NOOOO! So let’s get to it.

These are two teams heading in opposite directions. The Bengals are looking for their fifth straight victory and the Dolphins are looking to avoid their fifth straight loss. Andy Dalton continues to call into question stereotypes about redheads as he threw for 325 yards in each of the last three weeks, including a 5 touchdown performance last week against the Jets. On the other side, their defense has only surrendered 18.0 points and 322.5 yards per game to give the Bengals the lead atop the AFC North.

The Dolphins suffered a tough loss last week, blowing a 17-3 lead to lose at New England. To say a couple calls went against Miami would be to put it lightly. A turnover was negated because the first defender on Miami “batted the ball” when it really looked like he was just trying to recover it. Maybe the refs still felt bad about the Jet’s GW Field Goal two weeks ago.

That same story has been the case for the last three weeks. They led Baltimore at the half before losing on a late field goal. They led Buffalo going into the fourth quarter before losing on another late field goal. If they could hold it together for four quarters, they could get back to resembling the team that started 3-0. I think they do. They’re a skilled team with their backs against the wall. A banged up Cincinnati secondary is going to struggle against the under-appreciated Ryan Tannehill to Mike Wallace and Brian Hartline. Plus, no matter how Andy Dalton has played the last few weeks, I think he’s still afraid of Halloween.

The Pick: DOLPHINS (+3) OVER Bengals
