Evanston Farmers Market opens today while Green City Market holds a virtual opening day

Some good news

Evanston’s Famer’s Market is open for business! Of course, there are some new rules in order to conform to the new normal.

The large market, one of my favorites, will be open today from 7am to 1pm.

The market offers an awesome selection of organic vegetables along with a variety of produce, meats, cheeses, sweet treats and more.

If you go

Where: Intersection of University Place and Oak Ave. (just east of East Railroad Ave.)
When: Saturdays, May 2 through October, from 7am to 1pm.

Rules

DO’S

Stay home if you are sick
Wear face covering or mask
Sanitize your hands before entering the market
Maintain a 6’ distance between yourself, vendors, and other customers
Limit interactions with others
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
Wash all produce thoroughly before using it
Regularly wash your reusable produce bags

DON’TS

Consume any food on site
Pick up or touch any products or produce at the farm stands
Bring dogs or other animals to the market
Linger or congregate
Make hand-to-hand contact with vendors or other shoppers
Hand vendors payments directly

The Palatine Farmers Market opens today. Every Saturday at the Palatine Train Station Parking Lot.

If you are not ready to venture out

Green City Market is offering a virtual market.

PLUS today, in place of their regular Saturday market, they offering a virtual opening day market with activities including: a chalk paint activity, yoga, story time, cooking classes and more on various social media platforms.

Activities are pre-recorded and posted to FacebookInstagram, and Twitter starting at 8 am today (Saturday, May 2). A worksheet will be available on the Club Sprouts page after 8 am on Saturday. Click here for details on all activities.
