How I completed my holiday shopping without spending a dime and so can you

I don’t want to sound like a commercial for Amazon Prime but if your holiday budget is smaller than your holiday gift list, this deal may just be for you.

Being pressed for time, I decided to finish my holiday shopping online this Monday. I knew what I wanted and figured I could get my order in pretty quickly.

Here is my list:

One, Ron Chernow’s best-selling book, Grant. $23.99

Two, the Jam mini wireless Touch speaker, $17.99

and three, the 6-quart Crock Pot listed at $20.39

Fortunately, all were still in stock so I headed to checkout. Before checking out, I was offered a $70.00 gift card that I could use for my cart, if I applied for an Amazon Prime Rewards Visa.

Normally I click right by these offers but I had recently read Money Magazine’s list of the best credit cards for 2017. They named the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa as the winner of the best store card with 5% back on all Amazon purchases and 2% on restaurants, gas stations and drugstores.

I applied. It took less than 3 minutes to fill out the application and another 2 minutes to be approved. From there I went to checkout. My total tab $0.00.

You must be a Prime member in order to get the gift card and free two-day shipping. But you do not need to pay extra to become a short term member. Currently, Amazon is offering a free 30-day trial membership for Amazon Prime. If you join now, you can get the gift card and free two-day shipping and then just cancel before the 30-day offer expires and you’re home free.
