Ravinia Festival's hot list & ticket information for 2017

Ravinia Festival, North America’s oldest music festival, released its line-up for their 2017 today featuring more than 140 events from June 3 through September 17, 2017.

Tickets are available to donors beginning March 22 and go on sale to the general public on May 9, exclusively, here.

Hot tickets for 2017 include John Legend in his Darkness & Light
Tour with special guest Gallant (June 10); Boz Scaggs and Michael McDonald (June 27); the all-American The Beach Boys and The Temptations (July 2); OneRepublic with Fitz & the Tantrums in their Ravinia debut and James Arthur (July 14 and 15).

Blondie and Garbage are also making their Ravinia debut on July 22; with Judy Collins and Stephen Stills coming on July 26.

Chris Thile’s Punch Brothers and I’m With Her (Sara Watkins, Sarah Jarosz, and Aoife O’Donovan come to Ravinia Festival on August 14.

More hot tickets include: Lifehouse and Switchfoot (August 29); Michael Bolton–another Ravinia debut–and Gladys Knight (September 1). Los Tigres del Norte and Natalia Jiménez perform the final night of the 2017 season on September 17.

Returning favorites for 2017 include Pat Metheny with Antonio Sanchez, Linda May Han Oh, and Gwilym Simcock (June 14); Seu Jorge Presents The Life Aquatic: A Tribute to David Bowie (June 15).

2017 Grammy winner Willie Nelson is back on June 16; Aretha Franklin returns June 17.

The Gipsy Kings are on tap for June 23; with jazz pianist/singer Diana Krall on June 28; The Moody Blues with their Days of Future Passed 50th Anniversary Tour on June 30; Sheryl Crow on July 7; & Tony Bennett makes his annual Ravinia Festival appearance (for the 38th time, if I’m not mistaken) on August 4.

More returning legends include: Darius Rucker (August 5); Santana, returning the the festival for his 3rd year with his Transmogrify Tour (August 11 and 12); Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons (September 8); and Motown legend Smokey Robinson (September 15).

58 artists are making their Ravinia debut in 2017, including Stevie Nicks, John Mellencamp, Pentatonix, Common, Hamilton star Leslie Odom Jr., and Ryan Speedo Green.

The 15-week season is nearly 65 percent classical with special pricing available for classical music concerts.

This is the 82nd annual residency for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra with visits by the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Venezuela on the season calendar.

Classical music fans will want to take advantage of the special pricing for all CSO concerts with Pavillion seats selling for just $25 apiece and most lawn tickets at $10 each with some classical concerts—CSO, special events, recitals, and chamber music free for children and students through college.

Also available is a 10-punch lawn pass, granting lawn admission for as little as $7 per concert.

Movie fans won’t want to miss LA LA LAND LIVE: the almost best picture winner for 2017 and the actual winner of six Oscars at the Academy Awards ceremony this February.

LA LA LAND will be shown on screens on the lawn and in the Pavilion with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra playing the Oscar-winning score (including Best Song “City of Stars”) live on June 18.

Other film programming includes a special LORD OF THE RINGS CYCLE: presentation screening each of the Lord of the Rings films with the CSO performing Howard Shore’s award-winning music live in a 3 night series:

  • The Fellowship of the Ring (August 18)
  • The Two Towers (August 19)
  • The Return of the King (August 20)

Location: Ravinia is located  just North of Lake Cook Rd. on Green Bay Road in Highland Park, about 20 minutes north of Chicago. The Metra Union Pacific North line stops right at Ravinia’s main entrance.

Parking: On-site parking is limited, but shuttle service is available from remote lots, mostly along the railroad line. Parking on residential streets is prohibited by City ordinance, and violators will be ticketed by local police.
