January 27-29 at the Hilton Chicago
The three-day annual SoxFest fan gathering at the Hilton Chicago on January 27-29 features special autograph, photo and question-and-answer sessions with current White Sox players, former greats, prospects, broadcasters and front office staff.
2. Sunday Cinema
Sundays, January 29 through February 19
Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership presents a mini Jewish Film Festival over four weeks starting this Sunday, January 29 continuing Sundays through February 19.
The fest brings new Jewish films to Chicago that area audiences wouldn’t otherwise have a chance to see. Each screening is followed by a post-show discussion with a guest speaker related to the film or its subject. Feinberg Theater (610 S Michigan Ave).
3. Chicago Ale Fest
Saturday, January 28, two sessions, noon-4 pm. & 6-10 pm.
The 2017 Chicago Ale Fest – Winter Edition comes to the Aon Grand Ballroom on Navy Pier this Saturday, January 28.
The fest will feature more then 150 American Craft Beers, Chicago food trucks and a DJ spinning an all-vinyl playlist. Tickets required.
4. Ideal Home Show
The Ideal Home Show Chicago (IHSC), returns to Navy Pier for its 3rd year January 27-29.
The show features the latest in innovative products, design trends, and special deals to first-time and existing homeowners from 150+ Chicagoland and regional vendors.
5. Chicago Restaurant Week
January 27-Febuary 9
Chicago Restaurant Week (CRW) 2017 returns on Friday, January 27 through Thursday, February 9 for its 10th year.
This year more than 350 restaurants are participating including 66 new restaurants. Click here for more.

6. Chinese New Year
A host of Chinese New Year events, activities and parades kick off the Year of the Rooster which arrives Saturday. On tap for this weekend are:
- Chinese Dance, Calligraphy and Foods are part of the celebration of the Chinese New Year at the Art Institute of Chicago, Saturday, January 28.
- The Chinese New Year Kick-Off takes place Monday, January 30 at Chicago Cultural Center. The event features music, dance and marital arts by the Chinese Fine Arts Society. Free event, noon to 1 pm., Preston Bradley Hall.

7. Polar Bear Plunge for People
Oak Street Beach, Saturday, January 28, noon
Get in the swim or just watch at the 16th annual Chicago Polar Bear Club (CPBC) Polar Plunge into icy Lake Michigan from Oak Street Beach benefiting needy families in Chicago.
