New Year's Day 5K Run: Start the New Year off on the right foot

New Year’s Day 5KRun/Walk 

Overindulged over the holidays? No worries. Resolve to start the New Year off right with a brisk 5K run or walk that steps off in Lincoln Park at the friendly hour of 11 am. on January 1, (just in case you were ringing in 2017 ’til the wee hours).

It’s guaranteed you’ll feel better.

newyearrunThe NYD5K Run/Walk is a short distance, only 3.10686 in miles, that is good for all ages–so bring the kids, the grandparents, your friends and neighbors to ring in the New Year.

The route will take participants north along Chicago’s magnificent lakefront bike path to Diversey Harbor before returning to North Avenue.

Register now, so you don’t cop out on the day of. Plus you’ll save a few bucks.

Advance registration costs for the 5K walk, 5K fun run and 5K chip-timed run will set you back anywhere from $25-40.

On-site, registration will run $40-45.

A portion of run/walk proceeds benefit the Lakeview Citizens’ Council, a non-profit neighborhood organization.

This is the 32nd year for the New Year’s Day 5K Run/Walk–which is, not surprisingly, the first official 5K of 2017.

A post-run/walk gathering with winner trophies, raffle prizes and a complimentary beverage will be held indoors at Select Cut Steakhouse, 2808 N. Halsted.

In addition, registrants also have the option to purchase a post-race gathering ‘classic’ American breakfast at Select Cut.

The run/walk starts at 11:00 a.m. at 1600 Stockton Drive (near North Avenue) at the south end of Lincoln Park.
