PLEASE NOTE: The contest is closed and the winner has been notified. Thanks to all who entered. There certainly are many deserving mothers out there and many thoughtful sons and daughters. It was really hard selecting a winner–if it were up to me everyone would win.
The Lyric Opera has asked Show Me Chicago to offer a free pair of tickets to one of our lucky readers for their grand-scale production of “The King and I” running April 29 through May 22, 2016 at the Civic Opera House, 20 N. Wacker Drive, Chicago.
This is the fourth year that the Lyric is featuring a full scale musical production at the magnificent Civic Opera House. This spring’s Rodgers and Hammerstein musical “The King and I,” will be presented as part of Lyric’s American Musical Initiative.
Although the winner doesn’t have to prove that the prize tickets will be given to their mother, it is our hope and the Lyric’s that a deserving mom will win.
The all-star cast for the spring 2016 production of “The King and I” stars Broadway performers Kate Baldwin and Paolo Montalban and features an all-Chicagoland children’s ensemble (pictured below) along with a full orchestra. The winning contestant will be able to choose their tickets from the following performance dates: May 7 at 1:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.; May 8 at 6:30 p.m. or Tuesday, May 10 at 7 p.m.
To enter the Mother’s Day giveaway, tell us in 25 words or less why your mother deserves the tickets—any entry over 25 words will be pulled. Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org by noon Saturday, April 23, 2016.
The winner will be notified by email by 6 p.m. Saturday, April 23 and asked to select the performance they want to attend. The winner can pick up the tickets at will call on the day of the performance. The tickets will be for the best seats available for the day selected.
For those who do not win but still would like to see “The King and I” at the Lyric, tickets start at $29 and are available online or by calling 312-827-5600.
