
Art and food headline at the Chicago Artists Coalition (CAC)’s Starving Artist Benefit this Thursday, April 14 at Chicago’s event hotspot, Venue One (1034 W. Randolph).
The benefit is a showcase for the talents of Chicago’s emerging artists that brings together artists, art lovers and food enthusiasts to celebrate Chicago’s creative marketplace.
The hot ticket event, co-chaired by Google’s Ted Souder and Christie’s Lisa Cavanaugh, is returning for its fourth year to raise funds for CAC. It will also be raising a whole lot of fun throughout the evening starting off at 5:30 pm. with a special VIP reception at CAC followed by a party that kicks off at 7 pm. at Venue One.
At the VIP reception guests can indulge in delicious bites provided by Lula Café chef/owner Jason Hammel while enjoying live entertainment and an opportunity to bid on art at a live auction hosted by Christie’s at CAC headquarters (217 N Carpenter St)–art lovers can also bid online today and tomorrow at Paddle 8.
The event continues from 7 pm. to 11 pm. at the beautifully appointed Venue One space where some of the city’s top chefs will be crafting innovative dishes showcasing their unique artistic culinary talents for guests to enjoy. In addition to the drinks and bites there will be live music, dancing and a silent auction.
Featured chefs include Evan Behmer of Mercat a la Planxa, Michael Coté of Balena, Shawn Doolin of Venue One, Nathan Sears of The Radler and a noted chef from Piccolo Sogno.
Also on the menu are Pork and Mindy’s BBQ sliders, a food truck from Eastman Egg along with Garrett’s Popcorn.
For dessert guests can nibble on sweets from Mariano’s, Scone City and Vosges Chocolates.
A uniquely designed space from artist Tori Terzakis plus immersive artistic experiences created by Leonard Suryajaya offer an additional treat for guests.
Auction
The online auction hosted by Paddle 8 will be live throughout the evening, featuring the work of past and present CAC resident artists and friends of CAC including: David Alekhuogie, Aimee Beaubien, Iris Bernblun, Suzette Bross, Patty Carroll, Barbara Crane, Alejandro Figueredo Diaz-Perera, Karoline Gnatowski, Andy Hall, Sabina Ott, John Preus, Scott Reeder, Justus Roe, Matt Siber and Jessica Tampas

General Admission tickets ($175); VIP Tickets ($250), include a pre-event reception with the Host Committee at CAC. Tickets for artists and arts administrators are offered at a reduced $50. To purchase tickets or for more information, click here.
