Broadway In Chicago announces new season

Broadway In Chicago has just released its line-up for next season. Tickets for the previously announced highly anticipated Broadway musical blockbuster “Hamilton” will go on sale March 1st along with the rest of the scheduled shows for the 2016-2017 season.

In addition to “Hamilton,” the line-up features the North American tour premiere of Disney’s “Aladdin,” the 2014 Tony Award®-Winning Best Revival of a Musical “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” the the 2015 Tony Award®-Winning Best Play “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” and “The BodyGuard.” Dates, places, and a brief summary is below.

The story of “Hamilton” based on Ron Chernow’s biography of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton has been turned into a musical that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap and R&B. The unique score has been taking New York audiences by storm. Now with Chicago, stop one, on its National Tour beginning September 27 at The PrivateBank Theatre (18 W. Randolph) we finally get the opportunity to see what all the hype is about.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

The The New York Times, calls this one “dazzling.” The show, adapted from Mark Haddon’s best-selling novel of the same name, follows fifteen-year old Christopher who has an extraordinary brain but is ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. When he falls under suspicion for killing his neighbor’s dog, he sets out to identify the true culprit in a journey that will change his life forever. The show runs December 6 – 24, 2016 at the Oriental Theatre (24 W. Randolph).

The Bodyguard

This award-winning musical, starring Grammy® Award-nominee and R&B superstar Deborah Cox, is based on the smash hit film of the same name. It’s the story of a Former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard who is hired to protect the superstar from an unknown stalker. Billed as a romantic thriller, “The Bodyguard” features a host of irresistible classics including Queen of the Night, So Emotional, One Moment in Time, Saving All My Love, Run to You, I Have Nothing, I Wanna Dance with Somebody and  I Will Always Love You. “The Bodyguard” runs January 31 – February 12, 2017 at the Oriental Theatre (24 W. Randolph).

Hedwig and the Angry Inch

A pulsing score and electrifying performances, tells the story of one of a very unique character. Winner of four 2014 Tony Awards® including Best Musical Revival “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” played to sell-out crowds on Broadway with Time Magazine calling it “the most exciting rock score written for the theatre since, oh, ever.” Hedwig runs March 7 – 19, 2017 at the Oriental Theatre (24 W. Randolph).


From the producer of “The Lion King” this Broadway hit recreates the story of Aladdin (and his magic lamp), using all the favorite songs from the film. Hailed by USA Today as “Pure Genie-Us,” has also added some new songs making for an exciting mix of dance, song and story. “Aladdin” runs April 11 – July 2, 2017 at the Cadillac Palace Theatre (151 W. Randolph).
