Chicago Cultural Mile Halloween Gathering and nighttime parade

Chicago Cultural Mile Halloween Gathering and nighttime parade
A costumed children's parade on The Ribbon at Maggie Daley Park will step off at 2 pm.

Chicago’s Cultural Mile will be hopping this weekend with a brand new Halloween celebration dubbed the Chicago Cultural Mile Halloween Gathering.

The community event will kick off at 2 p.m. with world-renowned institutions including the Field Museum, The Art Institute of Chicago, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Columbia College Chicago and others offering an artist’s holiday of activities and events along Chicago’s Cultural Mile.

Not to be confused with Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, the cultural “mile” runs along Michigan Avenue from the Chicago River to Roosevelt and eastward to the Museum Campus.

The gathering will also include a children’s costume parade stepping off at 2 pm. on The Ribbon in Maggie Daley Park.

The grand finale will be the nighttime parade from 6 to 8 pm. The parade promises to be a spectacle filled with lighted lanterns, costumes, performances, music, dance, moving platforms and more (Rain or shine).

The parade will travel north on Columbus from Balbo to Monroe. It will be led by a “lucky 13” of Chicago’s most influential creative types including Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco, Chicago filmmaker Steve James and others.

In the case of inclement weather, all Festival activities will be relocated to the Fine Arts Building, 410 S. Michigan.  If necessary the announcement will be made by 10 am tomorrow morning (October 24th).
