The Highwood Craft Beer Festival is back for its second year. If you didn’t get a ticket to Lolla–or are just looking for an escape from city gridlock, try Highwood.
Highwood, on Chicago’s North Shore, (but unlike other sleepy North Shore communities) rocks. What it lacks in size (only one square mile) it makes up for in spirit. The “blue collar” town surrounded by “blue bloods” is nestled between Lake Forest to the north and Highland Park to the south.
It is a hotbed for restaurants, taverns, festivals, antiques, resale shops and live music–with easy access and parking.
This Saturday local and craft brewers from all over Chicago and the Midwest will descend on Highwood’s Evert Park for the Craft Beer Festival offering 80 different types of craft brews. The mix will include many seasonal and year-round brews from small, local and independent breweries to some of the best-known regional microbreweries.
Over 40 breweries including: 18th Street Brewery, Ale Syndicate, Break Room Brewery, Begyle Brewing Co., Big Shoulders Beer, Bucket List Brewing, Buckle Down Brewing, Lagunitas, Lake Effect, Lake Bluff Brewing Co., Mickey Finn’s, Pipeworks Brewing Company, Revolution Brewing, Smylie, Slapshot Brewing Company, Tighthead Brewing Company, Transient Artisan Ales, Wild Onion Brewing Co. and Chicagos’ Finch’s Beer Co. will be on-site.
In addition, local food vendors will provide fare to pair with the brews along with live music and Irish dance performances. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.
General admission is $55 in advance or $60 at the door. This includes 20-3 oz. beer sample tickets (equivalent to 60 oz. of beer), a souvenir glass, wristband, brewer’s list card and map of the Fest. VIP tickets are $90 in advance and $100 at the door (if available). VIP guests will be admitted one hour earlier (11:30 a.m.) than the general admission ticket holders to meet brewers and representatives. General admission: Gates 12:30 p.m. Must be 21 or older to attend. For more information, click here.
