John Hancock Center has transformed their Observatory into a winter wonderland with holiday events for all.
So head over to 875 N. Michigan and enjoy the ride of your life on the nation’s fastest elevators that take you 1000 feet in the sky in a dizzying 39 seconds.
Then step outside, if you dare, on their outdoor skywalk and see what the Windy City is all about.
The skywalk is as high as you can get–outdoors–in the Midwest. On a clear day, visitors can see four states – Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. On a windy day, you may want to stay inside.
The holiday season sparkles with twinkling lights and holiday fun for young and old.
For the kids.
Children visiting Jolly Old St. Nick are transported to a North Pole-like setting complete with the snow (but not the sub zero temperatures), winter trees, wildlife– including a life-size fluffy polar bear–and Santa’s sleigh.
Santa arrives on Saturday, November 30th and will be available for requests and photo opportunities on weekends throught Sunday, December 22nd plus Christmas Eve on December 24th. Children can visit with Santa from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. One complimentary 3×5 photo will be provided for each family.
For the grown-ups
Those looking to relax and take in the Observatory’s festive décor and one-of-a-kind view, can take a seat in the Lavazza Espression café and sip on its signature Winter White cocktail. This classic White Russian includes the guest’s choice of Peppermint drizzle or White Chocolate drizzle, adding the perfect touch for holiday imbibing. The specialty cocktail is $7 and will be available at the café throughout November and December.
General admission is $17.50 for adults (ages 12+); $11.50 for children (3-11); free for children under 3. Additional ticket options
such as FastPass and Sun & Stars are available online. Packages and group rates are also available (more information is available online or by calling 312 751 3681).
Open 365 days a year from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. (last ticket sold at 10:30 p.m.)
