Holiday Lights Tour Chicago: See the City's Holiday Lights and Sights via Trolley

All aboard the big red trolley for a magical Holiday Lights Tour of the Windy City.   The journey offers a warm, guided, festive and hassle-free way to see Chicago’s top holiday attractions dressed in their holiday finest.

The Chicago Trolley and Double Decker Bus Company’s popular Holiday Lights Trolley Tour kicks off today and will run through December 31
(see bottom of post for exact days and times).

Passengers on the trolley will receive the “grand tour” of Chicago’s festive lights and holiday spectacles without having the worry of driving and parking.

On Dasher, on Dancer…Chicago’s trolleys are the Windy City’s answer to a reindeer drawn sleigh and a lot more comfortable. Each trolley is named after one of Santa’s reindeer, friends of the North Pole and even Santa himself.

The ride starts and ends at the John Hancock Center (875 N. Michigan).  The festive trolley proceeds south down the Magnificent Mile surrounded by the twinkling trees lining the avenue to State Street for a peek at Macy’s animated Holiday Windows (make sure to check out the window where the Frango mints are being made).

Tour-goers will also see Navy Pier all aglow in lights with the entire facade of Navy Pier covered a spectacular lights display as part of  their Winter Wonderfest ( December 6 through January 12).

Passengers will be invited to hop off the trolley at two of Chicago’s most popular holiday events—the Christkindlmarket–the traditional German American holiday market with distinctive crafts, artistic glass ornaments, delicious sweets and holiday food and drinks in Daley Plaza and Lincoln Park’s Zoo Lights blazing with two million lights–that transform the zoo into a winter wonderland.

Passengers will also enjoy complimentary hot chocolate and a brownie provided by Hershey’s Chocolate.

The “Holiday Lights Tour” is a lightly narrated 2 ½ hour tour showcasing the best of Chicago’s holiday lights and sights.
