Be ready for possible traffic delays and to re-route your trip if you are planning on driving in the Grant Park area during the Taste of Chicago, July 10 through July 14, 2013, due to street closures and crowds.
The Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) issued a press release today to remind visitors and residents “to plan ahead for street closures and crowds for Taste of Chicago, July 10 through July 14, 2013.”
The street closures which are already in place include the following:
Jackson is closed from Lake Shore Dr. to Michigan Avenue.
Columbus is closed from Monroe to Balbo.
Congress is closed from Congress Parkway Circle to Columbus.
Parking Restrictions and Traffic Control:
There will be parking restrictions in the areas surrounding Taste of Chicago. OEMC encourages motorists and residents to read signs before parking in the area and adhere to the instructions of Traffic Control Aides (TCA’s). As always, public transportation is recommended.
OEMC Traffic and Weather Notifications:
You can sign up for free real-time traffic and weather alerts at www.notifychicago.org. Although the National Weather Service in Chicago forecasts moderate temperatures for the upcoming days, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday and, as always, OEMC advises those attending any event to check weather updates and to take the necessary precautions should the need arise.
