A Week's Worth of 4th of July Celebrations in Chicago and Nearby

Start celebrating the 4th of July tonight with Downtown Sound and continue every night through next Sunday.  Here are some some ideas to make sure you have a blast this 4th of July week.

Downtown Sound: Monday

Kick off the week Lee Fields & the Expressions and Theo Huff & the Platinum Band…a free performance in Jay Pritzker Pavilionin Millennium Park, 6:30 p.m.

Summerfest in Milwaukee: Tuesday

New Kids on the Block with Special Guests 98 Degrees and BoyZ II Men headline tonight on the Marcus Theater Stage plus it’s Kids’ Day with free admission for all patrons arriving between noon and 3 p.m.

Independence Eve Celebration at Grant Park Music Fest: Wednesday

Kick back and enjoy a beautiful evening in the park as The Grant Park Music Festival presents a free Independence Day Celebration featuring the Grant Park Orchestra in Millennium Park, 6:30 p.m.

Fireworks: Thursday

From backyards to Navy Pier, here are some of the best Fourth of July fireworks displays in the area:

  • Navy Pier, 9:30 p.m.
  • Arlington Heights – Arlington Park Racetrack.
  • Evanston – Clark Street Beach at 9:15 p.m.
  • Glenview – Glenview Park Golf Club.
  • Itasca – Hamilton Lakes after 9:45 p.m.
  • Lake Forest, Deerpath Park, 9:30 p.m. (music, food, more starts at 6 p.m.)
  • Naperville – RibFest. 9:30 p.m.
  • Skokie – Niles West High School.

Wavefront Music Festival: Friday (Saturday, Sunday)

Some call the Wavefront Music Festival the best fest of all. Expect an impressive line-up of electronic music at this sand-infused dance festival that features 100 artists on four stages plus fireworks at Montrose Beach. Three day pass, $189.99-$299.99.

Windy City RibFest: Saturday (also on Friday & Sunday)

Ribs, glorious ribs from local and national vendors, live music, arts, crafts, beer, wine and family activities. Lawrence and Broadway.

Chicago Botanic Garden Art Fair: Sunday (also on Friday & Saturday)

Wind down the week at this high quality art festival that features a wide selection of arts and crafts plus a chance to view the garden in all its summer glory.
