St. Patrick's Day in Chicago: Going for the Gold Krugerrand

St. Patrick's Day in Chicago: Going for the Gold Krugerrand

This St. Patrick’s Day in Chicago, you can take home more than a hangover, if you are first to tell the Irish Leprechaun the secret password.  Whether you think you have the “luck of the Irish” or just enjoy the thrill of the hunt you can join other Chicagoans in a competition to win a gold Krugerrand valued at $1,500.

The “treasure hunt” is sponsored by UltraPawn, an online pawn shop that lets users sell or pawn items for fast cash. The St. Patrick’s Day contest is UltraPawn’s way to celebrate the day and promote their service.

In order to win the gold coin, the participant will have to solve the riddle to learn the secret password. They must then be the first to give the secret password to the leprechaun in person. If this seems a little confusing, UltraPawn promises all the information that participants will need to know will be posted on the UltraPawn website by 9 a.m. on St. Patrick’s Day (Sunday, March 17, 2013).

Here’s the UltraPawn Leprechaun’s schedule for Sunday:

10:00 am:  River North Neighborhood (Hubbard & Clark/Ontario)
11:00 am:   North Michigan Avenue
12:00 pm:  Millennium Park
1:30 pm:    Bucktown Neighborhood (North/Damen)
2:30 pm:   Halsted Corridor (Halsted/North to Fullerton)
3:00 pm:   Old Town Neighborhood (North/Wells)
4:30 pm:   River North Neighborhood

At each location, the leprechaun will be passing out St. Patty’s day swag for all to enjoy and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day–plus, if you ask nicely he may even let you take his picture.  In order to redeem the gold, the secret password must be given to the leprechaun in person, and remember this password is hidden within the riddle, which will be posted on UltraPawn.com at 9:00 a.m, Sunday, March 17th, 2013.
