Avoid the “Black Friday” crowds, sleep in, have a big breakfast and still get bargains plus unique gifts for friends and family. It’s easy, just head to your computer for the City of Chicago’s Sharing It Banner Auction, part two. Part one of this years’ Banner Auction took place Wednesday, November 16 in the lobby of the Daley Center (pictured above). But lucky for you, there are still many awesome banners available. The auction will kick off this Friday, November 25 at 9:00a.m. online and will continue until all the banners are going, going, gone.
The banners up for auction this year all once graced the streets of Chicago–showcasing the best of Chicago’s sports teams, cultural institutions, theater and more. Online shoppers can find unique banners tailored to the interests and likes of friends and family. Plus not only are shoppers getting special gifts for their holiday list but they are helping the needy through the city’s Sharing It program with the proceeds from the auction going to the Chicago Anti-Hunger Federation, the Greater Chicago Food Depository and to buy gifts for underprivileged Chicago children.
Banners available include: 2010 Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup banners and two players banners: Patrick Kane and Dave Bolland; Walter Payton banners; autographed Chicago Fire 1998 MLS Cup Championship banners; tribute banners for the Chicago Blackhawks four Stanley Cup Championships 1934, 1938, 1961, 2010; banners from the Body Worlds Exhibit at the Museum of Science & Industry; “Thanks Michael” banners paying tribute to Michael Jordan; and banners for the Chicago Bulls Six Championship.
Various mini banner collections are also up for auction including banners celebrating the 25th Annual Chicago Blues Festival–depicting headliners such as Koko Taylor–and a set of banners highlighting the 2005 White Sox road to the World Series.
