Chicago, Friday, May 13, 2011. After 22 years, Chicago is about to get a new mayor. The Inaugural celebration for Rahm Emanuel kicks off tomorrow at 9:00a.m. with a City-wide day of service plus an afternoon of free family activities followed by a concert in Grant Park. On Monday, the swearing of Mayor-elect Emanuel will take place at Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. Below is the timetable for the Inaugural events and information on how you can take part.
Day of Service.
Saturday, May 14, 2011 from 9:00a.m. to noon.
Thirty opportunities to volunteer for various City-wide projects from planting flowers to painting to picking up trash present an opportunity to promote togetherness and Chicago spirit. To see the complete list of neighborhood projects and sign up go to Day of Service.

Saturday, May 14, 2011 from 1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. Grant Park, Butler Field.
Everyone is invited to picnic, enjoy family fun, and listen to the sounds of Chicago. Family-friendly activities will be held across Grant Park throughout the
afternoon. Activities include: yoga, soccer, hockey, vegetable-seed giveaways, health
screenings and more. Admission is free, but tickets for the concert are required. Sign up at Chicago Together,

The swearing in of the Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel, City Clerk-elect Susana Mendoza, Treasurer Stephanie Neely, and City Council will be held at the Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. This event is open to the public.
