Thursday, February 3, 2011. Today is the kick off for the Chinese Lunar New Year’s Year of the Rabbit 4709. Many Chinese and Asian restaurants in the Chicago area will be celebrating with special menus for the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. Despite the snow, the Chinese Lunar New Year is known as a Spring Festival. It traditionally begins on February 1 and ends 15 days later with the Lantern Festival.
