The 32nd Annual Chicago Jazz Fest promises to be something very special. This year’s event will take place over four days at three separate locations: Millennium Park, the Chicago Cultural Center and Grant Park. Four stages will offer free jazz music in Grant Park, including the Young Jazz Lions Stage which features high school and college jazz bands, representing the future of Jazz music in Chicago. The festival kicks-off Thursday, September 2 and continues through Sunday, September 5.
Jazz Fest will officially OPEN at noon on Thursday with performances in the at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park.
Ramsey Lewis will celebrate his 75th birthday with a concert on Friday, September 3 at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. 8:30p.m. to 9:30p.m.
Nicole Mitchell will make three appearances at Jazz Fest:
Friday, Spetember 3: Nicole Mitchell’s Black Earth Orchestra, Jay Pritzer Pavilion, Millennium Park, 7:10p.m. to 8:10p.m.
Saturday, September 4, Nicole Miller’s Sonic Projections will perform on at Grant Park on the Jazz and Heritage Stage from 3:30p.m. to 4:30.
Sunday, September 5, Nicole Mitchell’s Black Earth Ensemble will perform on Grant Park’s Jackson Stage from 1:10p.m. to 2:05p.m.
Rene Marie “High Maintenance” Quartet will be on stage at Grant Park’s Petrillo Music Shell from 6p.m. to 6:55p.m. on Saturday September 4.
Henry Threadgill’s Zoold will perform at 7:20p.m. Sunday, September 5 in Grant Park at the Petrillo Music Shell.
The Kurt Elling Quintet with special guest Ernie Watts will take the stage at Petrillo Music Shell in Grant Park from 8:30p.m. to 9:30 closing out the fest on Sunday, September 5.
