Widespread Panic will be at the Chicago Theatre for shows Friday and Saturday at 7:00p.m.  $39.50. 175 N. State.

There will also be wide spread panic as Transformers 3 takes over the Mag Mile from Wacker Dr. to Ontario St.  Both upper and lower Michigan Avenue will be closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  They will reopen at 5:00 a.m. Monday morning.  All businesses remain open and pedestrians will be allowed as long as they stay on the barricaded sidewalks.  In addition to the action on Michigan, there will be sky divers landing along Hubbard between Clark and State on Saturday and Sunday mornings.  Twenty-two bus routes will be affected along with the Wendella Water Taxis and other water vessels that normally transport the Chicago River in the area of the Michigan Avenue bridge. 

Thai Fest 2010 wraps up today at Daley Plaza.  Celebrate the Thai culture with classic dishes from Ten Thai restaurants, cultural performances, demonstrations, crafts, live music and more.  11a.m. to 5p.m., 50 W. Washington. Through today.


They’ll be three stages of cutting-edge vibes at The Pitchfork Music Festival kicking off today in Union Park.  Headliners include: Big Boi, Modest Mouse, LCD Soundsystem and Pavement. 3:30p.m. to 10:00p.m. today.  Officially tickets are SOLD OUT.  But if you get lucky, expect to part with $40.00 for a single day or $90.00 for all three days.  Kids under 10 are free with adult. 1501 W. Randolph.  Through Sunday.

The Windy City Ribfest offers a taste of some of the best local and national rib-makers plus three days of classic and hot music, arts, crafts and more in the Uptown neighborhood. Lawrence Ave. and Broadway.   5:00p.m. today and noon through 10:00p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

The Andersonville Neighborhood is going green in a big way this week with a variety of green activities taking place along Clark St. from Bryn Mawr to Foster. Through Saturday.

The Grant Park Music Festival presents The Magic Toy Shop, a free family concert at 6:30p.m. tonight in Millennium Park’s Jay Prizker Pavilion.  Saturday night, 7:30p.m.

The Cubs are in town for a 10 game stay.  Today’s game, Phillies at Cubs is at 1:20p.m., Wrigley Field, Clark and Addison. Through July 25.


Take a bite of the River North neighborhood at the Taste of River North.  It’s two days of


music, food, art and more at this trendy festival. Headliners include Sixteen Candles (Saturday) and Mike and Joe (Sunday).  Kingsbury and Erie.  Taste of River North.

The always popular Sheffield Garden Walk and Festival offers a look at 100 resident gardens in Lincoln Park, along with good eats, drinks and lots of music.  Headliners include Rusted Root and Cowboy Mouth.  Webster St. and Sheffield Ave. Saturday and Sunday, noon to 10:00p.m., $7, after 3:00p.m., $10.

Andersonville wraps up its Green Week celebration with a Community Block Party on Balmoral between Clark and Ashland. 4:00p.m. to 9:00p.m.

The Edgewater neighborhood celebrates the arts with visual and performance artists strutting their stuff on the lakefront at Berger Park and the North Lakeside Cultural Center.  6205 N. Sheridan Rd.  Through tomorrow.

The Gold Coast area opens over 20 of its magnificent private gardens for viewing at today’s Dearborn Garden Walk.  Live jazz and classical performances will be offered in select gardens along with some light refreshments.
