Thankful for Lurie Children’s Hospital and the support it gives our kids

Today is the Eric & Kathy Radiothon for Lurie Children’s Hospital.  When this amazing event happens each year I get teary eyed for the stories.  I am a mix of emotions, sad for the families that have to deal with such hard times but also happy for the families I personally know who have been helped by this amazing hospital.

Once we found out we were pregnant everything changed.  This event felt even more personal.  We have always felt blessed to live in a big city that has so many things to offer, especially amazing hospitals IN THE EVENT you need them.  The year I was pregnant was the year I decided I had to start donating monthly.  If I could afford my coffee addiction 🙂 I could afford that same amount to donate to help families get the care for their children that they need.

I feel so blessed that Children’s has helped my sister in law and my best friend when their babies needed the NICU.  I see my beautiful nieces smiley faces and my friend’s amazing daughter and truly feel lucky to have them in my life.

We just learned my daughter has to go in for x-rays and testing and see a GI specialist.  Nothing as serious as the NICU, but as a parent you can’t help but worry.

I know that everything will be ok, but I still worry.  I have learned that I will probably never stop worrying about her.  But I can worry a little less knowing that when we need help, Children’s is there.

Help out how you can, because your or someone’s child you know may need help one day!
