Friday evening in the Grand Ballroom of Navy Pier Tucker Thompson introduced the Six Teams to a thrawling crowd with a combination of video, music, smoke, and crisscrossing spotlights.

The big man of Midwest Sailing took the stage in rare form, none other than Buddy Melges, winning America’s Cup skipper in 1992 (plus an Olympic Gold Medal, World’s Champion, etc.). He teased Jimmy Spithill a few times like mentioning that last time he saw him he was capsizing Scows up in Wisconsin, just like he capsized his AC45 today!
