Before the America’s Cup moved the design to multihulls for competition, their last design were the International America’s Cup Class (IACC) from 1992 – 2007. These were monohulls, 80′ long, 25 tons, 114′ tall mast, and 101 of these were built of which two are coming to Chicago in 2015.
And you can sail them.
On days where individuals sign up, the price is $175 per person for a three hour experience. They work hard to move everyone around the boat, you can steer, trim, grind, change sails and have a great time.
There will be match racing, cruises, fireworks cruises, charters, client entertainment, or corporate team building offered. Boats come with 3 to 4 crew, and can accommodate up to 20 guests each.
The two boats are:
- Stars & Stripes USA34 owned by the Dennis Conner Syndicate originally won the Defenders Series in 1995.
- Abracadabra USA54 was owned by Aloha Racing (Waikiki Yacht Club) originally. Later it was owned by Larry Ellison as a training vessel with his entry into the America’s Cup.
