Can you believe that you are in week 17 of marathon training? Another taper week, another chance to relax and let your body heal. It has been a tough summer a lot of heat an humidity, now if it will just stop raining in Chicago we can get our taper runs in.
Not much to say about the runs this week, a total of 21 miles, piece of cake.
Tuesday 4 miles
Wednesday 6 miles
Thursday 3 miles
Saturday 8 miles
By now you should know what you are going to wear on marathon day. I have said this before and will say it again next week, Don’t try anything new on race day. If you have not tried it before don’t try in on race day! One thing that all races do is they have a pasta dinner on Saturday before races. This is not a good idea. Yes you will need carbs on race day but pasta the night before will not help. It will just sit in your stomach and not convert to the much needed energy. Have a pasta dinner on Friday after you go to Expo and the AHA offices we have some suggestions for you. Also you should plan on getting a good night sleep on Friday. Saturday night you will be too nervous to sleep. This will be OK and natural
