MTP Week 12 & 13

I will be on vacation next week so I am not sure I will be able to write while I am away.  So instead of missing a week and disappointing you I will combine two weeks into one.

Week 12 mileage cut back week:

Monday           REST

Tuesday           4 miles

Wednesday      8 miles

Thursday           5 miles & strength

Friday             REST 

Saturday            Only 12 miles

Sunday             Cross & strength

Week 13

Monday            REST  yes even after a cut back week

Tuesday               4 miles

Wednesday           9 miles

Thursday              5 miles & strength

Friday                    REST

Saturday                 18 miles

Sunday                  Cross & strength

The 18 mile run is over Labor Day weekend where there will be a wide choice of races.  As I wrote last week resist the temptation to “RACE” this weekend.  You can enter the race but treat it as a training run and make sure you do the extra miles either before or after the race.  This is week will be your second longest run of the season.  You need to complete this 18 miler.  You have a 20 miler two weeks after this, you need to be ready, the 18 miler helps you get ready.  The mid week runs are also increasing I hope that you are keeping up with these runs.

Has everyone decided on their shirt, socks, shorts and other stuff?  You need to get this worked out.  The 18 and 20 milers will be a good test of what will work and what will not.  There is very little time left to  experiment, it is important to get this right the next few weeks.
