My Girl. Day 14 of 365

My Girl. Day 14 of 365

Tonight I walked through the city with my one and only girl.

I’ve wished so long for a night like this — just relaxed, uninterrupted time with her, punctuated with laughter and authentic conversation.

Though she’s no longer my “little” girl, she’s a lovely young woman who’s grown up right before my eyes.

At one moment tonight, I turned to her and said, “I’ve dreamed so long for time like this with you. Just you and me.”

I hope she knows of what I spoke. I believe she did. I think she did.

And if I’m honest, I think this momming business is just so hard sometimes, because there’s no one way to do it “right”.

But when it’s right, just like tonight, it’s precious.

Like a pearl.

A precious gem.

Her name is Mar, short for Margaret.

And Margaret, it turns out, means pearl.

Like a pearl, she is so strong and beautiful.

My Mar, my girl, I hope you know just how much I love you, so.

I tend to cover life's ups and downs. I don't shy away from the tougher, more emotional stories. While I'm always willing to voice an opinion, it sometimes contradicts my innate desire to please everyone at all times. Such is this crazy life, I suppose. Ultimately, I search for meaning in the human experience, and openly share how I (try to) keep my head above water. Thanks so much for dropping by. I really appreciate hearing your thoughts.
