Hope, Real Estate, and Charity Events Spring Eternal!

The Spring events season is coming on full force!

Friday the 13th was not a bad luck day at all for outgoing 43rd Ward Alderman Vi Daley!  She was the recipient of the Outstanding Community Leader award at the Lincoln Park Conservancy’s annual Glass House Gala, held at the beautiful Conservatory at Fullerton and Stockton.  I was so happy to be there to wish her well!

As the pleased owner of several clothing items from the famous Ikram Boutique on Rush Street, I was so happy to see the International Fashion World join in to celebrate Ikram’s 10th Anniversary.  Ikram was also presented with the Legend of Fashion award by the School of the Art Institue of Chicago.  Along with providing beautiful outfits for famous personalities such as Michele Obama, Ikram is also flexible enough to offer essential items that work for everyday Real Estate Brokers like me!

Speaking of the Real Estate world, the Spring has truly brought some new life into Chicago’s market!  A beautiful East Lake Shore Drive Co-Op will have a new owner soon, adding to the luster of what I feel is one of Chicago’s best locations.  Separately, I have recently taken on two new Listings in the exclusive residences at the world famous John Hancock Center.

Chicago never sits still, and there are major projects coming that will add even more to the Streeterville neighborhood.  Although still in the early planning stages, the Chicago Department of Transportation is seeking bids and ideas for straightening out the Oak Street ‘S’ curve.

The spokesman was careful to say that any new development would require community approval, but the exciting idea is to push Oak Street Beach farther out into the Lake, onto new landfill, giving more room to straighten out Lake Shore Drive!  As the famous Chicagoan Daniel Burnham once said, “Make No Small Plans!”

Back to important philanthropic projects, I am proud to be on the Auxiliary Board of the Ronald McDonald House charity, which is busy supporting the development of the largest Ronald McDonald House in the world, to be located near the new Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, the state of the art, 23 story Hospital going up on Chicago Avenue.

There are annual events that support the charity such as the Big Mac Under Glass event at Navy Pier that took place May 14, but the Auxiliary Board will be ‘cooking up’ even more exciting events as the fundraising for the new house gets into full Swing!  Please consider donating to this very worthy cause, and stay tuned for announcements about some exciting events!

Finally, always close to my heart is the Joffrey Ballet, whose latest show, ‘Rising Stars’, is regrettably coming to a close today May 15th.  This exciting collection of performances received rave reviews, and the Company will be honored at a gala Closing Party tonight at the J W Marriott Hotel.  Artistic Director Ashley Wheater continues to add both quality and excitement to the Joffrey.  We can’t wait for the new Season, which will begin in October with a stunning production of ‘Don Quixote’!
