Summer is over but there are still some fun events that support animal rescue in the Chicago-area. Here’s a look at the Chicago pet events for this week.
Thursday, September 4
Chicago – It’s the official start of the NFL season as the Packers take on the Super Bowl Champion Seahawks. Come out and enjoy the game and support the work of Alive Rescue at the Tail-Gate Fall Football Kick-off. Hit the donation bar for craft beers and ciders and check out the food trucks and dogs, lots of dogs, having some off-leash fun. It’s all at Chicago Party Animals at 1133 West Fulton Market from 6 to 9 p.m.
Saturday, September 6
Chicago – For the second year in a row, the Internet Cat Video Festival hits Chicago, landing at the Metro at 3730 North Clark Street. Join Lil’ BUB and Lil’ BUB’s dude Mike Bridazsky and support the great work being done by Tree House Humane Society and Chicago Cat Rescue. Check out the times and ticket information here. There are four different screening times and tickets range from $12 for general admission to $37.50 for the VIP Experience. Tickets on sale here.
Sunday, September 7
Chicago – The Balance Healing Center at 7646 West Touhy in Chicago is hosting a rummage sale for Chicago Pet Rescue from 9 am until 3 pm.
Northbrook – Join Heartland Animal Shelter for their Annual Hogs for Dogs and Kitties Too fundraiser. Hit the road with your HOG, other bike or a regular car. Registration starts at Heartland at 2975 Milwaukee Avenue in Northbrook at 10:30 with the first bike hitting the road at 11:45. Learn more here.
Wauconda – Kick-off the Bears’ season and help a great cause at the same time. Docks Restaurant at 313 East Liberty (Route 176) will host a benefit from noon to 6 pm. Watch the Bears home opener and participate in the fun that day, including a drawing for their $1,000 cash raffle.
