It’s the week leading up to Memorial Weekend and it’s a bit quiet on the Chicago pet scene. You may hit the town, Mosey with the Mutts or take an architectural tour. Here’s a quick peek at the Chicago pet scene for Memorial weekend.
Thursday, May 22
Joliet – Get an early start to the holiday weekend with a Ladies’ Night Out at Cemenos Pizza at 1630 Essington to Support three great rescue organizations. There are 25 crafters and vendors on hand and the $2 donation will be divided between TLC Animal Shelter, Big Dog Animal Rescue and Dog House Humane Group. The event runs from 5 to 9 and the sports bar will be in full swing as well. Check here for the list of vendors and shelter wish lists.
Saturday, May 24
Fox River Marina in Port Barrington – Celebrate senior pets and the work being done by Young at Heart Pet Rescue at their Mutt Mosey starting at 11. The 1K Mosey around the lake is a nice walk for dogs of all ages. There will be an auction, raffle and some very cool pet vendors on hand as well More details here.
Chicago – One Tail at a Time hosts and adoption event at Jameson Loves Danger at 5208 North Clark in Chicago from 11 to 2 pm. Check out the great dogs looking for homes and learn more about the rescue.
Sunday, May 25
Chicago – Hop on board the Puss ‘n’ Boats benefit cruise and experience one of the great architectural tours of Chicago on Chicago’s First Lady along the Chicago River to support Tree House Humane Society. The Cruise will feature a 90-minute narration from one of the Chicago Architectural Foundation’s Docents. The official host is fellow ChicagoNow Blogger Steve Dale. The Puss ‘n’ Boats tour loads at 8:45 and tickets are $35 for adults and $10 for kids. Learn more here.
