If you’ve been considering adding a cat to the family, now is a great time to take the plunge. June is National Adopt-A-Shelter Cat Month and many Chicago-area shelters and rescues are coming up with creative ways to help more cats and kittens find homes.
During this time of year, shelters are overflowing with kittens from the spring kitten season. Many others are dumped outside or at shelters when families move. The combination means many shelters are bursting at the seams and local groups are working hard to find homes for the cats currently in their care to open up space for those needing rescue.
Here are a variety of special programs and promotions to encourage you to Adopt-a-Shelter Cat this month.
