Chicago’s a great dog-friendly city. And, if you’ve been skipping out on some of the summer fun, especially at your neighborhood pub because you want to hang with your pooch, it’s time to mark the West Town Pup Crawl on your calendar.
The popular bar district is gearing up for another round of summer fun for man and pooch starting Tuesday. And, it will be a summer of partying for many good causes since each week will feature a different pet non-profit, shelter or rescue.
For the second straight year, Chicago’s Canine Concierge Tracey Gold will host the West Town Pup Crawl, which runs from 6 to 9 p.m. each Tuesday through September. There’s plenty of pooch party fun at J. Patrick’s, Clutch, Aberdeen Tap and The Matchbox. The bulk of the action will be at Mahoney’s Pub and Grille at Grand and Ogden.
Featured businesses and the highlighted pet charity will be at Mahoney’s from 6 to 9. From 6 to 8 p.m., 15 percent of all liquor sale proceeds will go to the featured rescue. Next week, Safe Humane Chicago will be the beneficiary of the first night of fundraising with Chicago Party Animals and Fetch Portraits as the featured businesses.
All of the bars will welcome well-behaved, leashed dogs on their patios and Mahoney’s will also welcome dogs to the back bar. Some of the other groups that will benefit from the West Town Pup Crawl include One Tail at a Time, Pets are Like Family, The Critical Animal Relief Fund (CARF) and Be Fido’s Friend.
