Evanston’s site for the Greater Chicago Food Depository’s Producemobile, which I wrote about earlier this year, is a volunteer-driven effort that serves our community once a month. This month, Sparky and I volunteered together and I remembered to bring my camera.
Yesterday, the truck dropped off 8,000 pounds of food. Volunteers, including many young people, helped prepare and distribute produce and baked goods to over 300 households representing over one thousand individuals. It was an extremely satisfying way to spend a summer morning!
Producemobile comes to the Robert Crown Center parking lot at 1701 Main St. in Evanston, IL on the second Tuesday of every month and offers free fresh fruit and vegetables from 9:30-11:30am.
