Here's the deal: Ross dollar-signs off on the coronavirus

Wilbur Ross says coronavirus could bring jobs back to the U.S. from China

Understanding Wilbur Ross

May leave a person at a loss.

He says that the coronavirus

Could well add jobs and be desirous.

But let’s not monetize disease

Domestically or overseas.

For saying so Ross should regret it.

I’m sure he may if he should get it.

  • Monetizing disease... yes, it's come to this. Well put once again, my friend.

  • In reply to Margaret H. Laing:

And Trump's men are even doing a poor job of monetizing disease. As Paul Krugman, a Nobel prizewinner in economics, has written:

"If Wilbur Ross’s boneheaded remarks on Thursday are any indication — and I fear they are — the Trump administration is even less prepared to deal with the economic fallout from a possible pandemic than it is to deal with the public health crisis. Be afraid."

  • In reply to jnorto:

Thanks, jnorto, for the Krugman quote. I can't say I'm surprised. Just another chill in the New Age of Anxiety.

  • Brilliant post! Thank you so much, AW.
