The Foggy Bottom Irregulars

The State Department, says Bill Taylor,

Used two channels in Ukraine.

The one he called ‘irregular’

And the ‘regular’ or main.

The regulars are diplomats

The legates and envoys.

The irregulars apparently

A quartet of Trump’s boys.

Guiliani and Mulvaney,’

And the Energy secretary.

And not a single one of them

A Ukranian emissary.

Gordon Sondland was another

Rounding out this motley crew

Who unofficially conspired

To do what Trump told them to do.

  • I bet Rudy knows that his, next residence will be near Blago, and I don't mean Ravenswood Manor.

  • In reply to jack:

I don't know. Bill Barr has the power to prevent his U.S. Attorneys from prosecuting Rudy.

  • In reply to jnorto:

He won't, probably at the latest, Jan. 21, 2021 But maybe President Pence will pardon him by then. Or maybe he'll get the Roger Stone treatment.

  • In reply to jnorto:

Also, the operative word in my prior post is knows. For instance, he isn't making the rounds of Sunday talk shows because he knows.

  • I love to see the word "irregular" used properly, but they do realize that it means "outside the rules," don't they?

  • In reply to Margaret H. Laing:

No, it means one needs Phillips Milk of Magnesia.

  • P.S. I'm quite sure you used it that way yourself. Thanks.

  • In reply to Margaret H. Laing:

Aside from AW being erudite, there are certain rules of diplomatic intercourse, which don't appear to include the "personal lawyer" saying he wouldn't get involved in the mess in the Ukraine, and then doing exactly that, while running a smear campaign against the ambassador, for the purpose of pursuing some conspiracy theory to get dirt on a political opponent. And that's notwithstanding whether there was a quid pro quo, although the existence of which would violate 18 USC secs. 872, 878, 1343 and 1349, which Rudy, as a former DA, should know.

  • Jack, Margaret's comment that follows your reply to her other comment seems to fit both your reply and her reference to my poem.

BTW, Phillips M of M I remember from my childhood ; it always rested comfortably on one of the shelvesf of the bathroom cabinet. It did get to the bottom of things (as you often do).

  • In reply to Aquinas wired:

    Got that, replied above.
