Cut out the B.S., Mr. President. Show us your tax returns!

Mr. Trump, it is clear, that you aren’t transparent.

Your tax returns should be released.

Stonewalling them has been plainly aberrant,

And has only suspicions increased.

  • Somehow this was a story only for the 9 pm news.

But it seems fake news anyway. After saying how smart he was paying no tax, nobody believes that he paid $38 million 11 years ago. Anyone who isn't psycho would have taken the Warren Buffett route of saying he paid 16%.

  • Could it be that Trump leaked this two-page portion of his return himself? Could it be the only return in the last quarter-century where he paid tax?

  • In reply to jnorto:

    1. Then he would have to call on Sessions to arrest him.

    2. It at least disproves the assertion made during debate season that he had 18 years of loss carry forwards on the $915 million claimed on the 1995 return. Must have used them up by then.

If I were betting (and I'm not), I'd pin it on the Russians hacking his accountant's Turbo Tax and printing it to pdf. I'm not sure why someone got only Form 1040, pages 1 and 2, without the schedules.

Anyway, that fake news source NBC runimates on the who is leaking issue. While Maddow and Johnston go back and forth on whether Trump leaked them himself, a conclusion that could be drawn from that article was that they were discovery in some lawsuit. Of course, if that were the case, it would seem more likely that Trump would be going back to court for a contempt order.

  • Isn't it curious that now that the tax pages (not a whole form) leaked, no one is talking about the wiretapping-Trump-Tower question? Is there anything else to which you wish to call my attention?

  • In reply to Margaret H. Laing:

I'm not sure that's the case. This only came out late yesterday, and Sean Michelle Spicer has been quoted recently about air quotes and joking in tweets, although accusing a former president: "How low has President Obama gone to tapp my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!" is no joke.

  • In reply to Margaret H. Laing:

Margaret has a point. Trump often shows us a shiny bauble to distract us from looking at a broken toy.

  • In reply to jnorto:

It might have been attempted but seems to have failed. Being at the fitness center about 4:30, CNN and FNC were running competing banners on Trump says wiretapping means something else and (more significantly) House Intelligence Committee finds no evidence.

As is usual in these CNN/FNC dueling 42' TVs situations, I used a bike that was not under the TVs.
