Attorney General Sessions cleans house

“Sean Hannity thinks President Donald Trump should fire all the ‘deep state, Obama holdover’ government bureaucrats, because many are ‘hellbent’ on destroying his presidency.”  []

“U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions abruptly asked the remaining 46 chief federal prosecutors left over from the Obama administration to resign on Friday, including Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, who had been asked to stay on in November by then President-elect Donald Trump.”  []

To the President Sean Hannity urged

That Obama’s holdovers be purged.

And so Jeff, in a jiff,

On this theme did a riff

And had U.S. Attorneys  deterged.

  • Asking for the mass resignations of U.S. Attorneys is not that rare. What was rare here was that the U. S. Attorneys, who are the chief federal prosecutors in their districts, were told to clear their desks and leave immediately, with no opportunity to transfer their work to their colleagues. Also unusual in Bharara's case is that the President himself asked him to stay on.

Sun Times article on Bharara also had that Janet Reno canned Sessions, so he appears to be exacting his revenge.

  • In reply to jack:

An instance of revenge being a dish best served cold.

  • In reply to jnorto:

    Summed up beautifully. Thank you.
