Of the Fourth I am not a big backer

The explosions unsettle my nerves.

When it goes off  each damn  firecracker

Gets the curses I think it deserves.

  • Thanks! I'm going to be chanting this by Monday!

  • In reply to Margaret H. Laing:

Will it 'Lainger' that long? Your kind words keep me here. Thanks as always.

  • There have been stories that the Fourth is hard on veterans and dogs.

  • In reply to jack:

And many young children as well. I remember long ago when the kids were that age, I went down the alley and asked a guy to lay off firing M80s, or whatever those ear-shattering ones are called. He put them under buckets for greater volume. He responded by waving a baseball bat at me. I got the message and returned dutifully home, without any contusions.

  • Channel 7 had a good one last night: "I remember looking at my hand and there was no hand there." However, I don't recall the 10 p.m. news mentioning that a dog retrieved the hand.

  • In reply to jack:

I hope it was reattachable. I imagine the worst offenders in this area of insanity are low fruit on the tree for Trump.

  • In reply to Aquinas wired:

Sun-Times, gives you an answer, almost from a dog's eye view, which is no.

  • In reply to jack:

I hope he's right-handed. "Experience keeps a dear school, yet Fools learn in no other.." Ben Franklin gave this good advice even before there was a 4th.
