On Nothing

“But the one skill Maddon seemingly is proudest of is the art of doing nothing. According to the Cubs‘ manager, no one does nothing better than him.

‘I really enjoy that,’ he said. ‘I didn’t have enough chance to do nothing last offseason. I want more of an opportunity to do nothing, and I mean that in a positive way. When you get this downtime, to be able to do nothing well, that’s my goal.'” [Paul Sullivan in the Tribune today]

What each layman needs as does each cognoscente

Is a break from the grind, some dolce far niente.

The cure for the rut thing

Is just doing  nothing.

And then going back to work recharged a-plenty.
