Van Gogh slept here.


[The following verse was occasioned by the Art Institute’s exhibition featuring Van Gogh’s three paintings of his bedroom in Arles, France. The exhibition opens on February 14, 2016.]


Van Gogh’s bedroom in Arles didn’t have very much.

Two chairs and  a table for washing and such.

A bed near the door

And a plain wooden floor.

It was the embodiment of being Dutch.
