Kevin McCarthy speaks the speech tripping on his tongue

“In McCarthy’s Monday address, Russia’s hybrid warfare became ‘high-bred warfare,’ and restrictions on U.S. energy shipments became ‘the band on America.’ He spoke of the ‘beth path forward to safety and security’; he asserted that Syria’s regime uses chemical weapons ‘to the very day’; he argued that the Soviet Union collapsed ‘because of America’s leadership and America resolve.’ And he memorably rephrased the famous question asked of Republican presidential candidates: ‘Would you have gone to war if you knew what you knew now?'” [Dana Milbank in the Washington Post]

Kevin McCarthy the House’s new Speaker?

A job that for longĀ  he’s been openly seeking.

But his English is fractured and hard to decipher.

Ironic, indeed, in a manner of speaking.

  • Colbert (about a half hour late) had a montage of McCarthy's "English like" speech.

However, what I would like to see is the caucus so fragmented that it can't elect a speaker. I bet the Tea Party can do it.

  • WGN News just reported that McCarthy just drippipped out of the race, so so much for that.

  • In reply to jack:

Too bad. He would have been fun.

  • In reply to Aquinas wired:

But what I mentioned in the first post, second paragraph seems to have precipitated it, and becomes more likely.

  • Does this mean we won't have Mr. McCarthy greeting foreign diplomats? How would the British ever understand him, for example?
