Thoughts on building a neighborhood

“We live in a world where everything is branded.” Sean Conlon, real estate developer, quoted in “Developers hoping ‘NoCa,’ ‘River South’ catch on: Companies planning residential projects on Near West, Near South sides launch efforts to brand areas, add new neighborhoods to city’s lexicon” from the Tribune’s Business section on May 13.

“What unites us is far greater than what divides us.”  [John F. Kennedy]

In this world, he says, everything’s branded.

I’m not sure I agree,  to be candid.

Imagine  a cleric

Whose flock  were generic

And the Golden Rule what he  demanded.

“The World is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion”.

Thomas Paine

  • Maybe so, but the article didn't deal with that Englewood is branded Chiraq.

And by referring to a cleric, you have already branded her flock.
