An Ode to a Feathered Friend

[“Are not 5 sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is overlooked by God.”  Luke 12:7]

On the streets of the city both wide and the narrow

The bird I most frequently see is the sparrow.

No matter what time it is

Whatever the climate is,

The sight and the sound of it lives in my marrow.

Thanks to ChicagoNow’s  WeatherGirl,  the proprietor of ‘Chicago Weather Watch’,  for her post [“Sparrows with us”] that inspired the above.

  • AW, thank you so much. Such a spirited post, and wonderful rhyming!

  • In reply to Weather Girl:

WG, I really appreciate your kind words. And that you noted a structural element so favorably. Many thanks.

  • AW, this is lovely! And to continue the scriptural allusion, are you not of more value than they? (Yes!)
