Congress Woman Biggert Demands Opponent Take Position of Keystone Pipeline

-By Warner Todd Huston

Republican Congresswoman Judy Biggert, running for the 11th Congressional district seat, wants to know where her opponent, one-time Democrat Congressman Bill Foster, stand on the Keystone Pipeline. Does he support it? If not, why not?

Biggert says that even some Illinois Democrats voted in favor of the pipeline. Dem. Dan Lapinski, Biggert notes, voted in favor of a recent measure that includes a yes on the pipeline. Biggert also reminds voters in the 11th that even AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka supports the building of the Keystone Pipeline.

So, where does Foster stand on this important means of helping America become energy independent? Why hasn’t he made a public statement?

“11th District voters deserve to know whether Congressman Foster will side with special interests or the American people when it comes to the job-creating Keystone pipeline,” Biggert said in a released statement. “The Congressman has had two weeks since this bipartisan vote to study the project, and he now has a prime opportunity to demonstrate his – in the words of his own campaign manager – ‘almost independent streak.'”
