(Round Lake, IL – March 19, 2011) Lennie Jarratt statement on Grayslake District 46 School Board sending ethics findings to the Lake County State’s Attorney for investigation.
On Wednesday night the Grayslake District 46 School Board voted 5-2 to send the findings of Special Investigator Hon. Henry Tonigan to the Lake County State’s Attorney. This case has been ongoing for nearly a year and revolves around the use of taxpayer resources by Superintendent Ellen Correll, other administration, and staff members in an effort to elect incumbent school board members, Sue Facklam and Mary Garcia.
The emails, via a Freedom of Information Request (FOIA), showed blatant disregard for the voters of the district. This case has already produced a reprimand for Superintendent Ellen Correll, an investigation by the Cook County State’s Attorney and election law felonies by a School Board member Sue Facklam.
The use of taxpayer resources to influence elections should not be tolerated. The taxpayers have a right to expect open and honest government. It is time for District 46 to release the remainder of the missing emails so this case can finally be investigated thoroughly and brought to completion. District 46 needs to stop trying to delay this case and focus once again turn to the education of our children.
