From the campaign to re-elect Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R, Illinois 16th District)…
Adam Kinzinger has distinguished himself in his first term in Congress as someone committed to translating conservative, Tea Party principles into public policy. – Dan Proft
Dear Conservative Thought Leader,
I am writing to explain why I am supporting Congressman Adam Kinzinger’s re-election campaign and to enlist you to join me in that support.
We conservatives in Illinois are reminded more than most that elections have consequences. That phrase, “elections have consequences” has haunted us for a generation.
One of the consequences of our failures at the state level in 2010 was losing the opportunity to control the redistricting process. Chicago Democrats drew the electoral map and, as per usual, they turned out to be very good cartographers as they forced good conservative leaders to square off against one another in a number of districts.
While it is unfortunate that two good conservatives, both of whom I admire, in Adam Kinzinger and Don Manzullo are pitted against one another, it is the choice we must make.
One of the reasons we have not been successful as a movement in Illinois is that for too long the Republican Party has been a “wait-your-turn” party resistant to putting forward new leadership.
We have discouraged talent rather than promoted it. No enterprise lasts very long or enjoys enduring success by looking to its future in the rearview mirror. There are consequences.
Adam Kinzinger has served our nation with honor in the United States Air Force.
Adam Kinzinger has distinguished himself in his first term in Congress as someone committed to translating conservative, Tea Party principles into public policy.
Adam Kinzinger has been a thoughtful yet forceful voice who has consistently articulated the clear policy contrasts between conservatives and the Chicago Democrats who have inflicted catastrophic damage on the economy of both our state and our nation.
The consequence of failing to return Adam to Congress will be to tell other young, bright, diligent, and principled conservatives to again “wait their turn”. If we do that, we will again suffer the corresponding brain drain.
The benefit of returning Adam to Congress will be to signal to the Regressive Left that they are on the wrong side of history for the next generation of conservative grassroots leaders is ascendant and prepared to abide the Burkian contract between ourselves, our ancestors who provided for us and our posterity to whom we owe a responsibility to act responsibly.
Elections have consequences.
We have been in the wilderness in Illinois for a generation. If we are to find our way back, we need to elect conservative leaders like Adam who are ready to devote themselves to putting in the fight for the next generation.
The consequences as to outcome of the March 20th election are enormous.
After due consideration, I hope Adam Kinzinger can count on your vote in the March 20 Republican Primary.
