What Representative Bill Foster Believes…‏

From the National Republican Congressional Committee…

As voters get ready to go to the polls next week in the Illinois primary it’s important to remember politician Bill Foster’s history of giving Washington a blank check from Illinois taxpayers to continue spending money we do not have.

Even his primary opponent attacked him yesterday for his failure to rein in government spending, “Thomas criticized Foster for never voting for a Democratic budget while in Congress…” (Chicago Tribune, 3/13/2012)

Thomas is right that when Foster was in Congress he didn’t support a single budget blueprint, but he did vote for the wasteful $800 billion stimulus plan. While Illinois families are tightening their belts and living within their means during these tough economic times, will Foster support President Obama’s latest fiscal blueprint that calls for more job-destroying taxes, more spending and more borrowing?

The President’s budget only doubles down on the same failed policies, with $1.5 trillion in new taxes to pay for even more stimulus spending:

“The budget calls for $1.5 trillion in tax increases over 10 years, which Mr. Obama will campaign on as a way to pay for measures that would strengthen the economy in the short term while reducing the federal budget deficit in the long term.” (Damian Paletta and Laura Meckler, “Budget Sets Stage for Year-End Clash,” The Wall Street Journal, 2/13/12)

As you continue to cover the Illinois primary elections, you might consider asking Bill Foster if he will support President Obama’s budget.

NRCC Comment: “Foster seems oblivious to the fact that his policies have left Illinois middle-class families worse off than before. Instead of offering an alternative to years of failed leadership and policies, Bill Foster has made it clear he never intends to quit taxing, spending and borrowing to protect his big-government priorities.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Andrea Bozek
