From the office of Rep. Robert Dold (Ill., 10th District)…
DEERFIELD, IL – Last week, U.S. Congressman Robert J. Dold (IL-10) spent the morning at Takeda Pharmaceuticals in Deerfield touring the facility and holding a town hall meeting with employees. Dold visited the facility as part of his ongoing effort to listen to the job creators of the 10th District and take their ideas back to Washington.
“The science and technology industries are vitally important to our economic recovery,” said Dold. “Your work at Takeda helps our local communities and that is why I am a proponent of STEM education- so that those looking for work or soon to be entering the workforce have the tools they need to find good-paying jobs. I am also glad to hear your ideas so that I can bring them back to Washington. The best solutions come from you and I want to continue working with you to spur our economy and get the 10th District back to work.”
During the employee town hall, Dold spoke with several employees and listened to their concerns on the economy, jobs, education, and more. Dold agreed that the government shouldn’t be in the business of picking winners or losers and that the structure should be fair for all businesses to grow, not a select few. He also spoke about the importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education so that those seeking employment and our younger generations are better prepared for the 21st century workforce.
