From the campaign to re-elect Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R, Illinois 16th District)…
In less than thirty days, voters will head to the polls where we must carefully evaluate whom we send to Washington to represent our conservative values.
Last month marked the first anniversary of the Republican freshman class taking office, a new breed of conservatives, whose sole mission is to reform the way Washington works. We’ve changed the conversation from how much to spend to how much to cut. Gone are the days of auto bailouts, Cash for Clunkers, earmarks or increasing federal spending by 60% – all issues Congressman Manzullo supported. Those stances are a complete abandonment of small government principles that voters today value and why the American people decided to send myself and eighty-six other freshmen to Congress to put a stop to it!
We started the process of reforming Congress, especially within our own party. It is my freshman class that succeeded in making the first real cuts to spending and banned the use of earmarks. Although we have not won every battle, we definitely made our intentions clear that the status quo is no longer acceptable.
