From the office of Rep. Randy Hultgren (R, Illinois 14th District)…
Geneva, IL – U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (IL-14) today announced he is now accepting applications for spring semester internships in both his Washington, DC and Geneva offices. The position is unpaid and would run approximately from January to May, 2012. Full-time students or applicants with Illinois ties preferred. Academic credit is available.
Interns in the Washington, DC office will be responsible for greeting visitors, answering phones, giving tours of the US Capitol and assisting staff with policy-related projects. Interns in the Geneva office may be asked to help with administrative functions, conduct casework on behalf of constituents and assist with special projects.
“I’ve enjoyed connecting with constituents, through giving tours of the capitol building and by speaking with them on the phone,” said one current Washington, DC intern. “The legislative assistants create a friendly learning environment that allows us to absorb as much information as possible. I also appreciate how they are truly interested for us to gain legislative experience to help us obtain future careers.”
Resumes and writing samples should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org by November 23, 2011. Candidates will be contacted in December for phone interviews. Candidates from Illinois and candidates who can work at least two full days a week will be given preference. When applying, please specify interest in the spring 2012 internship.
